Who We Are
About The
State Guard Administration
The State Guard Administration (SGA) is a national division operating under the State Guard & Defense Force Council, committed to fortifying State Defense Forces (SDFs) across the United States. We provide expert administrative support, strategic operational guidance, mission-critical programs, and proactive legislative advocacy to advance the capabilities and readiness of all state military reserve components.
Our core mission is to elevate the operational effectiveness, professionalism, and inter-state cohesion of State Defense Forces while preserving the sovereign authority of each state in accordance with Title 32, Section 103 of the United States Code.
The formation of the State Guard Administration was driven by a recognized void in national-level leadership and coordination. The disconnect between the National Guard, and Department of Defense in fully integrating of supporting State Defense Forces as part of the total force concept has failed to meet the evolving demands of modern readiness, professional development, and organizational uniformity. As such, SGA was established to fill this critical gap—with a clear mandate: to build a professional, modern, and mission-ready State Defense Force infrastructure nationwide.
The SGA forges interagency cooperation with state and federal partners to advance the role of State Defense Forces in America’s layered defense framework.
